FAQs

What is your approach to pet training?

For puppies four to six months old, we use positive-only training through treats and toys to get the dog to understand the command and what we are asking. With dogs older than six months old, we integrate an E-collar to communicate positively with your dog as part of a properly balanced training regimen. It is NOT a SHOCK collar, as most people assume. It is simply a tool like the TENS unit we humans use to stimulate our muscles during therapy. During your first home lesson or your turnover from our Board and Train, you will have the opportunity to feel the collar to help you better understand what your dog is feeling. And YOU WILL feel it at much HIGHER numbers than your dog works on daily.

Which of your services is right for me?

To determine which of our programs will be most beneficial for you and your dog, we will discuss your dog's behaviors, concerns, expectations, and which program best fits your family's schedule. We pair you with a trainer who fits your needs and your expectations and get you scheduled to start your training journey.

Do you offer a guarantee?

If you are not completely satisfied with your first class, it is FREE. That said, we do not guarantee ANY specific training for your dog, but we can promise we will help you work on solving any issues you have with your dog.  If you choose to do classes, your dog's success depends solely on your ability to work on your dog's obedience and reinforce the manners and safe behavior you desire for your dog on your own time. If your dog is uneasy or aggressive, we cannot guarantee ANY work off a leash or that they will fully adjust to public work. We guarantee that we will give 100% to your dog, work through triggers, and give you the tools to manage your dog's specific issues in those settings when needed and a lifetime of support through our board and train program.

FAQ: FAQ

Is my pet too old to be trained?

Your dog is never too young or too old to get quality training. Our programs start as young as four months old with entirely positive-based reward training until the puppy reaches six months of age, at which time we can move on to training with our more advanced training tools to give you better communication with your dog.

Will my dog benefit from this training?

Most of the behaviors your dog shows, such as barking, shying away from people and other animals, jumping, digging, etc., result from boredom, lack of physical and mental exercise, and proper exposure to new environments or stimuli. Through this training, you and your pup can enjoy your best life with mental stimulation to keep your dog happy.

How long will my dog have to wear the E-collar?

At home, your dog will determine when you can start taking the collar off. But for your dog's safety, and because we cannot control exterior situations, your pup will always need to wear the collar while out in public to ensure their safety.

FAQ: FAQ

What if my dog cannot handle the training package I chose?

While we believe that every dog can and will benefit from one of our training programs, we understand that just like us humans, every dog is different. Because every dog is unique, we will adapt to your dog's specific needs to get the most out of their training program. If we find your current program is not the best fit for your dog, we will gladly convert your training to one of our other high-quality training programs.

What kind of training services do you refer out?

We recognize that our trainers and owners do not know everything about training, behavior, or scenario. We do everything in our power to give you the best experience with the company that we can. We will refer out to a company for any service dog work as we do not offer that service. We refer out for grooming. We refer our working dog breeds that want further training in sports such as agility, dock diving, tracking and trailing, protection, scent work, etc.

Will my dog have fun during training?

The simple answer is yes; they will enjoy the training because they will discover how much fun the freedom they gain will be. The training can be high-paced initially, but as your dog adjusts to the trainer, the new surroundings, and the training, they quickly build a bond with the trainer through the positive-based reward system and confidence built through enriching outings in various environments.

FAQ: FAQ

What do I need to send for my dog during training?

Send your dog with enough food for their stay. Generally, a full bag of food works out perfectly and allows us to adjust the amount of food they get based on the training. You will also need to provide any medications or vitamins they will need to take while they are with us. We provide everything else for your dog while we have them. You do not need to provide toys; however, we do permit you to send antlers to keep them busy while they are relaxing in their kennel. We do not accept beds, blankets or stuffed, soft destructible items, as the training can be stressful, and we do not want them to ingest anything they might tear up.

What if my dog is on a special diet?

If your dog is on a special food, send it. If your dog is on a raw diet, send it. If your dog has allergies, send your own treats so they are not left out. If your dog takes medication, send it. We accommodate every dog to make sure they have everything they need while we are working with them.

What if my dog has to see the Veterinarian while at training?

If it is an Emergency, we will let you know and take immediate action to keep your dog healthy and safe. If it is a regular appointment that's no problem either, we can take them, and even turn it into another training opportunity.
